ECOSOMATICS: THE ART & SCIENCE OF WELL-BEING

This is a year-long program that offers early career researchers the opportunity to connect, share experiences, and cultivate sustainable holistic well-being.

By blending scientific knowledge, artistic sensitivity, and embodied practices, we aim to promote long-term wellness, both individually and within the scientific community.

INTERESTED IN BRINGING ECOSOMATICS TO YOUR GROUP? Read here why you should.

The PhD and qualification phases can be demanding and highly stressful. This workshop series is designed to provide support during these critical stages. Participants will explore creative methods to enhance well-being while building meaningful connections with peers in similar situations.

This workshop series is open to all scientists, also for those who identify as members of marginalized groups in science. This includes first-generation students, trans, inter, or non-binary colleagues, individuals from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds, women, people with disabilities, and others with underrepresented identities.

Participants will Experience:

Holistic Well-being: the connection between their physical, mental, and environmental health through sessions inspired by the changing seasons.

Individual and Community Growth: Improve personal wellness while fostering a supportive, inclusive community.

Artistic and Embodied Knowledge: Gain insights from scientific and artistic perspectives, and create sustainable habits for long-term well-being through practical tools and reflective spaces.

Program Format

The workshop program is divided into two phases, to be hosted in the two academic semesters, each aligned with seasonal rhythms and natural cycles:

Phase 1

LEARNING, LETTING GO, AND TRANSFORMING

Engage in artistic expression, regulate internal rhythms, embrace the power of rituals, and develop relaxation techniques for sustained well-being.

Phase 2

CONNECTING THROUGH EMBODIED AESTHETICS

Explore embodied awareness, synchronize mind and environment, navigate focus and flow, and enhance constructive communication. This section includes a guided walk in nature.

Program Length: 6 to 12 sessions
Duration of the Session: approx. 3 hours
Maximum number of Participants: 22

The program can be tailored to the particular preferences and needs of the research center. We are happy to hear about them!

ABOUT US

ANNA KANITZ · Embodied-clinical psychologist

Anna (Lübeck, 1991) bridges therapeutic and artistic research practices, drawing from her extensive background in clinical and consulting psychology. She integrates a wide range of approaches into her work, including movement-based therapy, biofeedback, and deep listening techniques. Her primary interests lie in exploring the intersections of art, science, and health, with a focus on their interconnected environmental and embodied aspects. Currently, Anna specialises in embodied psychotherapy, spanning psychosomatic inpatient care to outpatient treatment. Her practice includes neurofeedback training, group coaching, and creative collaborations focused on EcoSomatic listening. She is also pursuing advanced training in systemic psychotherapy, further expanding her expertise in integrative and holistic therapeutic modalities.

ELIANA ARAQUE · Transdisciplinary Artist & Educator

Eliana Araque (b. 1990, Colombia) is a Berlin-based artist, philosopher, and educator whose practice brings together participatory and transdisciplinary experiences. Her work examines complexity, diversity, and interconnectedness — particularly how individual and collective systems co-shape and inform one another within the framework of ethics of care. Bridging art, science, and philosophy, she creates artworks and cultural-educational formats that draw audiences into processes of attention and transformation.
